Privacy policy

Last updated September 28, 2026

TLDRun runs TLDRun. We collect as little as we can. You don’t need an account, and we don’t sell data.

What stays in your browser

Your watchlist, chosen currency and ad choice are saved in your browser’s local storage. They never reach our servers. Clearing your browser data removes them.

Domain searches

To check if a name is free, we send it to that extension’s registry (and sometimes to DNS servers). We keep results in memory for about 10 minutes to make repeat searches fast. We don’t save your searches or link them to you.

Clicks to registrars

When you follow a link to a registrar, we count it: which registrar, which extension, and the date. We don’t store your IP address or any identifier with it. The registrar’s own privacy policy applies once you’re on their site, and affiliate links may let them set cookies there.

Price alert emails

If you sign up for alerts, we store your email address and the extensions you picked. We only start sending after you confirm. Unconfirmed sign-ups are deleted after 7 days. Every email has a link to change alerts or delete your address completely. We send email through Resend, which processes addresses on our behalf.

Security and abuse protection

To stop abuse, we briefly keep IP addresses in memory to limit how often requests can be made. They aren’t written to our database. Our hosting provider may keep standard server logs for a short time.

Cookies

TLDRun itself sets no cookies for visitors. We don’t run third-party ads right now.

Fonts are hosted by us, so loading a page doesn’t contact Google Fonts or other font services.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or CCPA), you can ask to see, correct or delete data we hold about you. For alert emails, you can do it yourself from any email. For anything else, write to our contact page.

Children

TLDRun isn’t aimed at children under 16, and we don’t knowingly collect their data.

Changes

If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top. If a change affects alert subscribers, we’ll email them first.
